Final Project

This was my rubber block before I eliminated 25% of the piece and progressed with my 1st generation pull.

Generation: #1

I mixed a very basic red and green to get that color on my first pull.

Generation: #2

To achieve that gross looking green, I actually blended a grass color and light blue. I also removed an additional 25% from the rubber.

Generation: #3

This is my final piece with 75% taken off. I had intentions of getting an orange when I mixed a simple yellow and red, but got this instead.

Lacking definite detail, it works as a base for the next step in my process.

Watercolor/Critique Comparison

This was A. Nitchman's work which I didn't realize until after I had already been designated to present my piece. This is actually my favorite because of the creative idea and technique of blending different shades of the same color. 

This is my only piece. The wax white pencil assisted me in creating and keeping the white lines which is my favorite aspect.

This is G. Dudney's work and also another honorable mention. I thought he needed to keep the actual picture next to the one he created. It was amazing to see him do that with water color.

This was my final piece for the project. It remains somewhat incomplete due to the lack of time, but in a way I preferred it this way. My favorite part of the picture is the sky behind him and the different shades it takes on like the grass.

Butcher Block Drawing

These are the few examples I created. I'm in the process of applying the Higgins Black India ink. Instead of applying the colored cutout shapes, I want to retrace over the figure I chose and make small  adjustments to perfect it. This is easily my favorite unit so far in the class. I've repeatedly watched the videos on Schoology to try replicate the elegance in the artist's hand. It's impressive and inspiring to have the ability to draw something in front of you.
